Is BioCote® safe?
  • Yes, BioCote® provides safe and long lasting protection.
  • Silver has low toxicity and will not break-down or leach out of products over time.
 
How is it applied?
  • BioCote® is a silver-based antimicrobial agent that is incorporated into the manufacturing process and chemically bonds with the material, so all surfaces have constant antimicrobial properties.
 
How long will BioCote®retain its antimicrobial efficacy?
  • Simulated life cycle testing has been carried out by independent laboratories showing on-going efficacy for over 25 years

 

 
Does BioCote® require any specialized maintenance?
  • No.
  • It cannot be rubbed off
  • It does not wear off
 
How effective is BioCote®?
  • BioCote® is effective against a wide range of microbes, including bacteria, fungi and mould.
  • Examples of microbes tested against include: Aspergillus niger (Black Mould), Steptococcus faecalis, Salmonella enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus, including (MRSA), Escherichia Coli and Listeria monocytogenes
 
Is it effective against MRSA and other antibiotic-resistant bacteria?
  • Yes, BioCote® is effective against all known antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
  • Silver does not function in the same way as anti-biotics, therefore there is no known evidence to suggest that bacteria are resistant to it.
 
Can it create resistant strains?
  • There is no evidence to date as BioCote® does not function in the same way as antibiotics and therefore, to date, no bacteria have become resistant to it, as they have to some antibiotics.
 
Why is BioCote® different to other anti-microbial products?
  • BioCote’s powder coating is a patent protected coating and therefore cannot be copied.
  • It contains a silver based anti-microbial agent, a safe and natural alternative to organic substances.
